Service Description
Who is it for?
Aimed at complete beginners or those who need a refresher. Perfect for those wanting to try a new skill or who want to build up their confidence in throwing. These intimate sessions have a maximum of 2 people, so are perfect for date nights, time with your bestie or alone to make a new friend.
What will I learn?
During the 1.5 hour session, you will learn the basics of throwing. From centering, opening out, pulling up and shaping. You will be guided by your tutor with different techniques to find your rhythm while making a pot of your choice. When you feel more confident, the rest of your session you will be free to experiment making different pots. Your tutor will give you feedback and guide you when needed. What’s included? Your ticket includes 1.5 hours of full tuition from a professional potter, use of facilities and tools, firing and glazing of your favourite pot. Additional pots can be fired at an additional cost.
Glazing of your items?
If you want to take your pot to the next level with decoration, book into a glazing session to decorate your bisque fired pieces with underglazes! Your glazing session will be a date at least 2 weeks after your throwing lesson. Left in the capable hands of a professional potter, your pieces will be refined and first fired ready for you to let your creative juices flow! Additional cost applies.
When will I be able to collect my pieces?
Your pieces will be refined, fired and glazed and will be ready for you to collect between 4-6 weeks. Your pieces can be posted at an extra charge.
Things to consider:
An apron will be provided but pottery is very messy as the apron may not protect all clothing. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting mucky!
Hair should be worn up for health and safety.
All jewellery such as rings, watches and bracelets must be removed.
Flat, closed toe shoes must be worn.
Wheels may be harmful to a person who has a pacemaker.
Long nails should be avoided. This will make your experience extremely difficult for you.
